The study and application of robotics to everyday life has long been a field of interest to SCARAB's™ inventor, R.K. Meyer. In 1984 Mr. Meyer gathered a team of electrical, mechanical and computer hardware design engineers, and laid out his design and performance perameters. The result was uncovered four months later at a press meeting held in San Francisco on March of 1984.

SCARAB's™ unique abilities attracted attention from the fast food industry, special event servers and the military arm of the health serving Veteran's Administration. The SCARAB's™ basic design elements could be manufactured to serve the automated processes of Veteran's Hospitals' Pharmacy Departments.

SCARAB™ X1 was designed to demonstrate the practicality of producing liquid portions of a variety of beverages at a rapid rate of speed and to perform their delivery from voice orders as well as orders given from portable and fixed tactile remote locations.
