The Brassworks | History

The "Original" Brassworks was founded in 1978 by R.K. Meyer and his son Kirk. From 1978 to 1988 the company operated from its factory, located in the China Basin of San Francisco, South of Market (SOMA) district. The company designed and manufactured a line of solid brass gift items which it marketed through a team of manufacturers representatives throught the United States. The company grew and prospered through the early 80's. In 1984 the company's gross sales reached $2 million with an after tax profit of 20%. In 1985 Inc Magazine named The Brassworks parent company Meyco Industries as one of the top 500 of the fastest growing, privately held companies in America.
